AI Can Prepare an Asset—But You Make the Final Decision

AI can reduce the work required to organise documents, extract facts, identify gaps and prepare an Asset Passport. DaDepo's direction is to build a controlled asset copilot that supports users without independently signing, registering, listing, transferring or selling an asset.

Prepare a private Asset Passport draft

This starts a temporary private draft. It is not public, listed for sale or shared automatically.

Public discussion about artificial intelligence often focuses on when machines may reach human-level intelligence or what AI could become decades from now.

For an owner trying to organise a claim, receivable, contract or other document-backed right, the useful question is more immediate:

What work can AI safely remove today—and which decisions must remain with a person?

AI can already help read documents, organise information and prepare draft outputs. As those capabilities improve, DaDepo's objective is not to create an autonomous system that acts as the owner, lawyer, valuer, registrar, broker or buyer.

The objective is to build a controlled asset copilot: a system that can prepare, explain and guide while keeping authority and final decisions with the user.

Key point: AI may help prepare an asset for a decision. It should not independently make a legally, financially or commercially significant decision on the user's behalf.

The practical problem is not a lack of intelligence

Many document-backed assets begin as an unstructured package rather than a clean data record.

The package may contain contracts, invoices, amendments, notices, payment records, correspondence, court documents, security information and several versions of the same file. Before another party can understand the opportunity, someone has to determine:

  • what each document is;
  • which version is current;
  • who the stated parties are;
  • which dates, amounts and currencies matter;
  • what has been paid or performed;
  • what evidence supports each important statement;
  • which facts conflict; and
  • what may still be missing.

This work is necessary, but much of it is repetitive. It can delay asset preparation and require the same information to be entered or explained several times.

AI is well suited to assisting with this preparatory work. That does not mean it should control what happens after the preparation is complete.

Three different levels of AI involvement

It is useful to distinguish among assistance, preparation and action.

1. Assistance

AI examines available material and presents reviewable findings.

Examples include:

  • classifying a document;
  • extracting a party name or date;
  • summarising a payment clause;
  • identifying a possible inconsistency; or
  • suggesting that a supporting document may be missing.

The result is information for review. It is not a legal conclusion or an instruction to transact.

2. Preparation

AI combines available findings into a draft or a proposed next-step package.

Examples include:

  • drafting an asset title and description;
  • creating a proposed category and tag set;
  • preparing an Asset Passport draft;
  • drafting a buyer-facing summary;
  • assembling a checklist for registration readiness; or
  • explaining which prerequisites appear to be incomplete.

The output may save substantial time, but it remains a draft until an authorised person reviews and accepts it.

3. Action

An action changes legal, financial, access, registry or market state.

Examples include signing, registering, making information public, accepting an NDA, opening a market workflow, submitting an offer, transferring an asset or paying for a service operation.

These actions should not occur merely because an AI model recommended them. They require the appropriate permissions, prerequisites, disclosures and explicit confirmation.

The resulting information can contribute to an Asset Passport that brings documents, available facts, provenance, review status and lifecycle information into a clearer record.

The user remains the source of authority. AI findings are suggestions, and significant lifecycle actions remain separate from document analysis and draft generation.

This foundation is important because a safe asset copilot should extend controlled workflows that already exist. It should not bypass them or write directly around their permission, identity, KYC, pricing or audit controls.

Where DaDepo plans to take the Asset Copilot

The following sections describe DaDepo's product direction. They are not a statement that every capability is currently live, available for every asset type or scheduled for a particular release date.

Richer structured document analysis

DaDepo plans to make document findings more useful than a simple summary.

The intended direction includes reviewable information about:

  • parties and their stated roles;
  • dates, amounts and currencies;
  • payment or repayment terms;
  • security, guarantees and collateral references;
  • assignments, amendments and document relationships;
  • possible risks or inconsistencies;
  • extraction confidence; and
  • the source location supporting each finding.

A useful copilot should show not only what it found but also where it found it and how certain the result is.

Missing-document and inconsistency guidance

AI can help make gaps visible before a package reaches a buyer or another reviewer.

Depending on the asset and available material, the copilot may be able to flag:

  • missing signatures or schedules;
  • inconsistent names, dates or amounts;
  • absent amendments;
  • unclear payment history;
  • conflicting document versions;
  • missing ownership or authority evidence; or
  • findings that require a person's attention.

These indicators should be treated as prompts for investigation. An AI system cannot know that a package is complete merely because it did not detect another missing item.

A reviewable asset draft

The copilot should be able to turn document findings into a proposed asset record containing, where appropriate:

  • a title and description;
  • asset category and subcategory suggestions;
  • tags and language information;
  • a buyer-facing narrative;
  • an explanation of available evidence;
  • possible readiness issues; and
  • links back to supporting documents.

The user should be able to correct every relevant field. DaDepo's direction is also to make it clearer which information came from a source document, which was suggested by AI, which was supplied by the user and which was later reviewed or changed.

Guidance for the next step

Once an asset draft exists, the copilot may help explain what the user can do next.

For example, it could:

  • show which fields still require review;
  • identify prerequisites for a requested workflow;
  • prepare a missing-document checklist;
  • explain visibility and sharing options;
  • show when identity or KYC requirements apply;
  • present the cost of a paid operation before it is requested; or
  • prepare information for a registration or market-readiness review.

The copilot may prepare the path. The user must still choose whether to follow it.

Portfolio and enterprise preparation

For institutional users, the same controlled approach may later support batches of document packages rather than one asset at a time.

Potential future capabilities include controlled batch intake, portfolio-level status views, reusable structured data and approved integrations with institutional systems.

Higher volume must not reduce accountability. Each document package and asset should retain its own permissions, sources, review state, cost records and audit history.

What AI may do automatically

Within appropriate access and data-processing controls, an asset copilot may perform low-risk analytical work automatically, such as:

  • classify uploaded documents;
  • extract candidate facts;
  • normalise dates, amounts and currencies for review;
  • suggest document and asset categories;
  • identify possible missing information;
  • flag conflicting values or low-confidence findings;
  • draft titles, descriptions, remarks and tags;
  • connect a finding to its source; and
  • attach uploaded documents to the user's draft document group.

Automatic analysis does not make the result automatically correct. Findings should remain reviewable, traceable and reversible where appropriate.

What requires the user's confirmation

Some steps may be assisted by AI but should occur only after the user sees the relevant information and deliberately confirms the action.

These include:

  • running a paid AI operation after its cost is shown;
  • saving an asset draft created from AI suggestions;
  • accepting or editing a proposed narrative;
  • changing visibility or making information public;
  • sharing documents with another party;
  • requesting a registration or listing workflow; and
  • proceeding when identity, KYC, permissions or other prerequisites apply.

Confirmation should not be a decorative button. The user should be able to understand what will happen, what it may cost, which information will be used and whether the action has legal, financial or disclosure consequences.

What AI must not do independently

DaDepo's planned asset copilot should not independently:

  • finalise an asset as the user's confirmed record;
  • sign an asset or another legal document;
  • accept or sign an NDA;
  • register an asset in a depository;
  • register an asset for trading;
  • publish a listing or open an Offerboard;
  • submit or accept an offer;
  • execute a sale, settlement or ownership transfer;
  • split, merge or transfer registered units;
  • disclose restricted or escrow documents;
  • delete protected material; or
  • spend credits on a consequential operation without the required cost disclosure and confirmation.

These boundaries are not limitations to be removed as soon as AI becomes more capable. They are part of a trustworthy operating model.

What a trustworthy Asset Copilot should show

A useful AI interface should not present every answer with the same apparent certainty.

For an important finding or proposed action, the user should be able to see:

  1. The source — which document and location support the finding?
  2. The status — was the information extracted, user-supplied, corrected or reviewed?
  3. The confidence — is the result clear or uncertain?
  4. The conflict — does another document contain a different value or version?
  5. The requirement — what permission, identity check or prerequisite applies?
  6. The cost — will the operation use credits or trigger another charge?
  7. The consequence — will information become public, create a registry event or affect another party?
  8. The audit trail — can the user later see what was proposed, accepted and changed?

This information turns AI from a black box into a reviewable participant in the workflow.

Why human control creates economic value

Human control does not eliminate the benefits of automation.

A well-designed copilot may help users:

  • spend less time reading and classifying repetitive material;
  • discover missing or conflicting information earlier;
  • prepare a more consistent Asset Passport;
  • reduce repeated data entry;
  • answer reviewer questions more efficiently;
  • understand available next steps; and
  • process larger document packages with a clearer audit trail.

The economic benefit comes from reducing avoidable preparation and review work—not from allowing AI to make unaccountable decisions.

Faster preparation may lower costs and shorten the path to a qualified review. It does not guarantee that an asset is valid, transferable, valuable or sellable.

What AI analysis does not establish

Even a detailed and apparently confident AI output does not automatically establish:

  • document authenticity or completeness;
  • identity, authority or ownership;
  • legal validity or enforceability;
  • transferability or regulatory classification;
  • the accuracy of an outstanding balance;
  • the value of an asset;
  • suitability for a buyer or transaction;
  • acceptance by a registry, depository or market operator;
  • buyer demand, liquidity or settlement; or
  • a particular price, saving, yield or financial return.

AI can identify information in the material it receives. It may miss context, misunderstand language, rely on an incomplete document set or produce an incorrect inference.

Important findings therefore require appropriate review against the source documents and the applicable legal and commercial context.
